Tips for families

Children under 5 travel free on public transport

The RTA service page says children under 5 need no nol card and ride the metro, tram and bus free. RTA's fare table says "5 years old and below": the age limit is worth checking with RTA. Children aged 8 to 11 need a parent's permit to travel alone; under 8 is not recommended without an adult.

Free ages are low in Dubai

Under 2 is free in the Dubai Municipality parks (Zabeel, Al Mamzar), under 3 at the Dubai Frame, under 5 at the Etihad Museum. Carry a passport copy or the children's ID in case of questions.

Plan around the heat

The Dubai Frame site showed 38 Β°C on 11 October 2026. Do outdoor sights and parks early in the morning or after sunset, and keep midday for the aquarium, Ski Dubai, museums and malls, which are air-conditioned.

Strollers

Large bags and strollers must be left at the Gate 4 counter at the Dubai Frame. Other venues' stroller rules were not read.

The Museum of the Future is closed

The museum is temporarily closed while it prepares a new chapter (notice on museumofthefuture.ae, October 2026). A search summary of its FAQ says it reopens in the first quarter of 2027: check before you plan around it.
